Nihon Kagaku Sangyo Co., Ltd. (President: YANAGISAWA Eiji ) is pleased to announce that the Cupric Oxide DC produced at its Chemicals Production Division ’s Saitama Plant (Soka-shi, Saitama Prefecture) has now obtained UL 2809 validation*, following the completion of third-party validation by UL Solutions Inc. in September 2023.

At Nihon Kagaku Sangyo Co., Ltd., we have historically produced Cupric Oxide DC, a plating agent, from recycled materials—such as scrap coppers and used etching solutions containing copper —by utilizing our unique technology, with a view to ensuring the efficient use of metal resources.

As calls for a more efficient use of valuable metal resources increase globally , we will be striving even harder to contribute to the recycling of limited metal sources , by obtaining third-party validation with respect to the use of recycled materials.

This is part of our initiatives to focus on recycling business, as we work towards our vision for 2030 to contribute to circular economy and decarbonization, in accordance with our Mid-term Management Plan. Through this, we will be looking to lessen not just our own environmental impact, but also that of our entire supply chain.

* UL 2809 validation: A validation program developed by UL Solutions Inc., which validates the amount of recycled materials a product contains, in accordance with UL 2809, Environmental Claim Validation Procedure (ECVP) for Recycled Content ; it is the global standard for the use of recycled materials.
